Objectives break the goal down into discreet, manageable "chunks" of learning. This makes progress monitoring easier, and helps the IEP Team determine areas to provide more or less support.

In Washington state, there are six SEL standards with 2-3 benchmarks for each standards. This guide is for Standard 1: Self Awareness, Benchmark 1A.

Each standard lists indicators of the skills and abilities for each grade band, which includes Early Elementary, Late Elementary, Middle School and High School.

Each SEL goal can be viewed through a different lens. Some children externalize emotions, while others internalize. For each benchmark and standard, I am writing a suggestion for a goal and objectives based on different perspectives of the standards.
