ChatGPT helps you generate benchmarks tied to the annual goal, instructional supports, and real-world skill development. It’s especially helpful if the current benchmarks are placeholders like “with teacher support” or “80% accuracy.”
Prompt Example
Start with: “Create 3 quarterly benchmarks for this reading goal. Focus on decoding multisyllabic words.”
Or: “Add two short-term objectives for a student with ADHD learning to complete multi-step tasks.”
Customize and Review
AI benchmarks still need your insight. Review the wording, make sure they align with classroom data, and revise based on what your child actually needs. The AI draft is a springboard, not the finish line.
